Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 46.2-830.3 as follows:

§ 46.2-830.3. Crosswalk design.

On and after July 1, 2021, all initial installations of crosswalks and crosswalks receiving maintenance shall (i) be painted in a zebra pattern and (ii) have warning surface tiles on the sidewalks at both ends of such crosswalk that are federal yellow if installed on a dark-colored sidewalk and red if installed on a light-colored sidewalk.
