SENATE BILL NO. 1357 AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE (Proposed by the Senate Committee on Education and Health on January 28, 2021) (Patron Prior to Substitute--Senator Dunnavant) A BILL to direct the Board of Education to establish a through-year growth assessment system.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1. That the Board of Education shall establish, for the purpose of providing measures of individual student growth over the course of the school year, a through-year growth assessment system. The system shall provide accurate measurement of a student's performance in each core subject to begin during the 2021–2022 school year administered through computer adaptive technology, using test items below, at, and above the student's grade level as necessary. Such through-year growth assessment system shall include diagnostic assessment each fall, and again in the winter, and one spring progress assessment.
