SUMMARY AS PASSED:
Furloughs from local work release programs; notice to local sheriff. Provides that if any furlough permitted by the director of a work release program for an offender participating in a work release program under the supervision of the administrator of a regional jail would extend the limits of confinement of the offender to a locality not served by that regional jail, notice of such furlough shall be provided to the sheriff of such locality.

Furloughs from local work release programs; approval by local sheriff. Provides that any furlough permitted by the director of a work release program for an offender participating in a work release program under the supervision of the administrator of a regional jail, which furlough would extend the limits of confinement of the offender to a locality not served by that regional jail, shall be subject to approval by the sheriff of such locality.
SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Furloughs from local work release programs; approval by local sheriff and local chief law-enforcement official. Provides that any furlough permitted by the director of a work release program for an offender participating in the work release program shall be subject to approval by (i) the sheriff of the local jail where the offender is participating in a work release program and (ii) the chief of police, sheriff, or chief law-enforcement official of the locality in which the prisoner will stay.
