HOUSE BILL NO. 659 AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE (Proposed by the House Committee for Courts of Justice on January 31, 2020) (Patron Prior to Substitute--Delegate Hope) A BILL to direct the Secretary of Public Safety and Homeland Security and the Office of the Executive Secretary to create and implement policies for people with developmental disabilities.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1. The Secretary of Public Safety and Homeland Security shall, for the Department of Corrections, create and implement policies that recognize and make accommodations for people with developmental disabilities, as defined in the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000 (P.L. 106-402), including intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder.
