- 2. That, notwithstanding any other
provision of law, the owner or operator of any emergency vehicle as defined in
§ 46.2-1127.1 of the Code of Virginia, including
firefighting equipment, that requires a permit to be operated on the
Interstate Highway System because such emergency vehicle exceeds the weight
limits set forth in § 46.2-1127.1 of the Code of Virginia shall be exempt from
the payment of any fees otherwise charged by the Department
of Motor Vehicles for the issuance of such permit if such emergency
vehicle is registered to a federal, state, or local
agency or a fire company as defined in § 27-6.01 of the Code of Virginia.
