19103139DBe it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 46.2-1222.2 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:
§ 46.2-1222.2. Local ordinances prohibiting parking of certain vehicles.
The governing body of any county, city, or town may by
ordinance limit to no more than two hours the length of time of parking on
streets, adjacent to commercial business areas, of vehicles with gross weights
in excess of 12,000 pounds or lengths of 30 feet or more, unless such vehicles
are (i) actively engaged in loading
or unloading operations or, (ii)
waiting to be loaded or unloaded,
provided that such waiting period lasts no more than one hour,
or are (iii)
actively engaged in or preparing to engage in utility or
similar service work. The
governing body of any county, city, or town may by ordinance prohibit
or limit the parking of such vehicles adjacent to
residential areas.
