SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 550
Commending Roland J. Davis, Jr.

 

Agreed to by the Senate, May 30, 2018
 

WHEREAS, Roland J. Davis, Jr., a respected business leader and community volunteer, served the Chesapeake community for four years as a member of the Chesapeake City Council; and

WHEREAS, during his long career in business, Roland Davis has served as division president of Landmark Communications; founder, owner, and chief executive officer of Executive Productivity Systems, Inc.; and founder, owner, and president of Sajomach Business Services, Inc.; and he offered his expertise to other executives as the Hampton Roads chair of Vistage International; and

WHEREAS, known for his ability to motivate other leaders, organize complex projects, and foster teamwork to accomplish goals, Roland Davis has led numerous volunteer programs and events to benefit charitable causes and local residents; and

WHEREAS, desirous to be of further service, Roland Davis ran for and was elected to the Chesapeake City Council in 2014; his business acumen helped him ensure good financial stewardship of taxpayer dollars; and

WHEREAS, during his time on the council, Roland Davis also promoted efforts to build cooperation between citizens and elected officials, increasing transparency and efficiency in local government; and

WHEREAS, Roland Davis has earned numerous awards and accolades for his personal and professional achievements on behalf of the community, including the 2013 First Citizen of Chesapeake award from the Rotary Club of Chesapeake; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Roland J. Davis, Jr., hereby be commended for his four years of service to the residents of Chesapeake as a member of the Chesapeake City Council; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Roland J. Davis, Jr., as an expression of the Senate of Virginia’s admiration for his contributions to the Chesapeake community.
