SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 508
Commending the John Marshall High School boys’ basketball team.

 

Agreed to by the Senate, May 14, 2018
 

WHEREAS, the John Marshall High School boys’ basketball team won the Virginia High School League Class 3A state championship on March 16, 2018; and

WHEREAS, setting a breathtaking pace with their aggressive play style, the John Marshall High School Justices overwhelmed the Western Albemarle High School Warriors, taking a 20-point lead at halftime; and

WHEREAS, the John Marshall Justices ultimately defeated the Western Albemarle Warriors, who had held many of their opponents to around 40 points during the season, by a final score of 63–42; and

WHEREAS, the John Marshall Justices finished first in the 2017–2018 basketball rankings by the Richmond Times-Dispatch, with head coach Tytrail White receiving region and state Coach of the Year honors and sophomore Isiah Todd named region and state Player of the Year; and

WHEREAS, with no starting seniors, the John Marshall Justices will head into the 2018–2019 season with much of their fearsome lineup intact; and

WHEREAS, the John Marshall Justices’ victorious season is a testament to the skill and hard work of all the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of coaches and staff, and the enthusiastic support of the John Marshall High School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That the John Marshall High School boys’ basketball team hereby be commended on winning the Virginia High School League Class 3A state championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Tytrail White, head coach of the John Marshall High School boys’ basketball team, as an expression of the Senate of Virginia’s admiration for the team’s achievements and best wishes for the future.
