SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 504
Commending Kline's Dairy Bar.

 

Agreed to by the Senate, May 14, 2018
 

WHEREAS, Kline’s Dairy Bar, which has delighted generations of families in Harrisonburg with its delicious ice cream, milkshakes, and sundaes, celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2018; and

WHEREAS, in 1943, John Kline and his father, Grover Kline, opened what was then known as Kline’s Frozen Custard and began selling their unique, old-fashioned ice cream from their home; and

WHEREAS, in 1964, Kline’s Dairy Bar moved to one of its current locations on Wolfe Street in Harrisonburg; in 1979, the business was sold to Mike Arehart, who worked with members of the Kline family to preserve their legacy of providing fresh, premium products to the community; and

WHEREAS, Kline’s Dairy Bar now has two locations in Harrisonburg, owned by Mike Arehart, and locations in Staunton and Waynesboro owned by his sister, Kim Arehart; and

WHEREAS, each Kline’s Dairy Bar location makes its ice cream fresh every day through the continuous freeze method, which results in a dense, custard-style ice cream that is renowned for its flavor; and

WHEREAS, Kline’s Dairy Bar commemorated its 75th anniversary by offering 75-cent ice creams to customers, many of whom braved winter weather to wait in line to celebrate this beloved local institution; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Kline's Dairy Bar hereby be commended for its contributions to the Harrisonburg community on the occasion of its 75th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Kline’s Dairy Bar as an expression of the Senate of Virginia’s admiration for its delicious products and commitment to high-quality customer service.
