2018 SPECIAL SESSION I
18200073DWHEREAS, for more than 50 years, The Arc of Loudoun at Paxton Campus, a nonprofit organization in Leesburg, has provided a supportive learning environment to children with special needs and their families; and
WHEREAS, originally known as The Arc of Loudoun, the organization was established in 1967 by a group of local parents in need of a preschool for their children; and
WHEREAS, in 2009, The Arc of Loudoun relocated to the historic Paxton estate, becoming The Arc of Loudoun at Paxton Campus; and
WHEREAS, The Arc of Loudoun at Paxton Campus has grown to offer a wide range of integrated and innovative learning programs, including the Open Door Learning Center, The Aurora School, ALLY Advocacy Center, Aurora Behavior Clinic, and Ability Fitness Center; and
WHEREAS, the staff members of The Arc of Loudoun at Paxton Campus work to maximize the potential of each child and help them develop the skills and confidence to grow into adulthood and thrive in the community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That The Arc of Loudoun at Paxton Campus hereby be commended on the occasion of its 50th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to The Arc of Loudoun at Paxton Campus as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for the organization’s long-standing commitment to serving children with special needs and their families.
