HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 550
Commending Generation Solutions.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, April 17, 2018

 

WHEREAS, for 20 years, Generation Solutions has served as a leader in caring for seniors in their own homes throughout Lynchburg and the Counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, and Campbell, as well as other contiguous counties in the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, Generation Solutions was originally founded by Tulane and Claudia Patterson in May 1998 as Covenant Home Retirement Services and was renamed Generation Solutions in 2001; and

WHEREAS, Generation Solutions began with three employees in 1998 and now employs more than 300 highly trained health care professionals and home caregivers from across the region; and

WHEREAS, Generation Solutions has had the honor of caring for over 15,000 seniors over its 20-year history and currently supports more than 500 Virginians every day; and

WHEREAS, Generation Solutions has been a pioneer in the senior care industry as the first company whose sole mission is to help seniors live where they prefer, in their own home; it was also the first home care company in the region to offer the variety of services that enable a senior to live safely and securely at home; and

WHEREAS, Generation Solutions was recognized in 2006 as one of only two home health companies in Virginia named as a Top 100 Home Care Elite company by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and has remained on the Top 500 Home Care list ever since; and

WHEREAS, Generation Solutions was the only home health agency locally recognized as a top Five Star home health agency for Patient Satisfaction by CMS in 2017 and has been recognized as the Best Small Business of the Year by the Lynchburg, Bedford, and Roanoke chambers of commerce; and

WHEREAS, Generation Solutions received the prestigious Innovation of the Year Award from the Virginia Association of Home Health in 2017 for its Contractor Alliance Program, which works to reduce fraud against seniors; and

WHEREAS, Generation Solutions has been selected as the best home health company for five years by OurHealth magazine, The News & Advance, and Lynchburg Living; and

WHEREAS, the owner of Generation Solutions, Tulane Patterson, was recognized as the 2015 Small Business Person of the Year for Virginia by the Small Business Association; and

WHEREAS, Generation Solutions has partnered with the Department of Veterans Affairs, the League of Older Americans, the Central Virginia Alliance for Community Living, and Centra PACE to provide care and support for low-income seniors in the region; and

WHEREAS, Generation Solutions founded PACE of the Blue Ridge, which became Centra PACE and provides services for at-home and at-risk seniors in Lynchburg, Farmville, and Gretna; and

WHEREAS, Generation Solutions has partnered with the region’s chambers of commerce and local charitable organizations to complete projects and build programs that add to the economic prosperity of individuals, communities, and the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, Generation Solutions is the first senior care company to create a technology program for seniors living at home to provide a new measure of safety, security, and scam prevention through technological services; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Generation Solutions hereby be commended on the occasion of its 20th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Generation Solutions as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for the company’s legacy of innovative care for older residents of the Commonwealth.
