18200066DWHEREAS, for more than five decades, Dan McMillan, M.D., has served and cared for women in Augusta County as an obstetrician/gynecologist; and
WHEREAS, Dr. McMillan began his career as a physician in Staunton in 1982; he later became the owner of his own practice, now known as Augusta Health Care for Women; and
WHEREAS, in 1995, the practice relocated to the newly opened Augusta Medical Center, and in May 2005, Dr. McMillan’s vision of a free-standing state-of-the-art facility became a reality when he opened a newly constructed office in Fishersville; and
WHEREAS, Dr. McMillan has grown the practice from a single practitioner to a business that now employs 40 doctors, midwives, nurses, and support staff, and has served countless women in Augusta County and throughout the region; and
WHEREAS, under Dr. McMillan’s leadership, Augusta Health Care for Women has offered the highest-quality medical care, upheld stringent medical ethics, and promoted ongoing advancements in medical procedures, treatment, and prevention; and
WHEREAS, in addition to building a successful women’s health practice, Dr. McMillan has displayed extraordinary commitment to his patients by serving nearly 6,000 nights on-call, delivering more than 5,000 babies, and performing thousands of surgeries; and
WHEREAS, throughout his career, Dr. McMillan has demonstrated the highest examples of ethics, morals, and unselfish service; his skill as a physician and surgeon and his leadership in the Augusta County medical community will be missed; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Dan McMillan, M.D., hereby be commended on the occasion of his retirement from Augusta Health Care for Women; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Dan McMillan, M.D., as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for his dedication to the members of the Augusta County community and best wishes on a happy retirement.
