2018 SPECIAL SESSION I
WHEREAS, Steve Lloyd, a distinguished leader in the concrete construction industry, was named as a Fellow of the American Concrete Institute in 2018; and
WHEREAS, a United States Navy veteran, Steve Lloyd found work as a concrete finisher, then started Lloyd Concrete Services in 1986; under his leadership, the business has grown to serve many loyal customers in the Lynchburg area and has completed jobs in 28 states; and
WHEREAS, Steve Lloyd is a pioneer in the use of expanded joint floors and has developed an innovative, near-jointless slab system using steel fibers called Maxxcrete; and
WHEREAS, Steve Lloyd is active with the American Society of Concrete Contractors and offers his expertise to six American Concrete Institute (ACI) committees; he worked with an ACI committee to develop a Tradesman Certification that can be presented to a skilled concrete finisher without a written test; and
WHEREAS, Steve Lloyd also volunteers his time at local trade schools to educate new generations of professionals about the concrete industry; and
WHEREAS, in 2017, Steve Lloyd was named one of Concrete Construction magazine’s Most Influential People; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Steve Lloyd hereby be commended on his selection as a Fellow of the American Concrete Institute; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Steve Lloyd as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for his accomplishments.
