18200060DWHEREAS, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9835 in Warrenton has promoted patriotism, supported veterans, and conducted valuable community service throughout Fauquier County for 70 years; and
WHEREAS, founded on May 19, 1948, by 90 veterans of World War I and World War II, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 9835 has grown to include more than 220 members, including veterans of the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, and recent conflicts; and
WHEREAS, the membership of VFW Post 9835 includes men and women from all branches of military service, including active-duty service members; and
WHEREAS, throughout its history, the members of VFW Post 9835 have contributed countless hours of time to help their fellow veterans and participate in community activities and events; and
WHEREAS, VFW Post 9835 has earned more than 20 Virginia Post All-State awards and has received the prestigious All-American Post award five times, including in 2016 - 2017; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9835 hereby be commended on the occasion of its 70th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9835 as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for the organization’s contributions to veterans and all members of the Fauquier County community.
