2018 SPECIAL SESSION I
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Caleb Nathaniel King, USN, a distinguished naval flight officer in Virginia Beach, died on March 14, 2018; and
WHEREAS, Caleb King was born in Port Orange, Florida, and attended Warner Christian Academy in South Daytona, where he was a standout member of the football team, known for his impressive size and stature; and
WHEREAS, a 2012 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Caleb King continued to excel at NCAA Division I football and helped the Navy Midshipmen achieve a 25 - 14 record from his sophomore to senior years; and
WHEREAS, after serving with VFA-106 “Gladiators,” Caleb King was assigned to VFA-213 “Blacklions” at Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach in 2015; and
WHEREAS, beginning in January 2017, Caleb King deployed as a member of Carrier Strike Group Two aboard the group’s flagship, the USS George H. W. Bush; he served in combat as a weapons systems officer on an F/A-18F Super Hornet, carrying out missions in support of Operation Inherent Resolve; and
WHEREAS, a standout member of VFA-213, Caleb King was awarded the Air Medal for his meritorious service and had recently achieved qualification as a combat section lead; and
WHEREAS, Caleb King will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Victoria; his daughter, Rain; and numerous other family members, friends, and fellow aviators; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Lieutenant Caleb Nathaniel King, USN; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Lieutenant Caleb Nathaniel King, USN, as an expression of the House of Delegates’ respect for his memory.
