Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Title 52 a chapter numbered 7.4, consisting of a section numbered 52-34.10, as follows:

CHAPTER 7.4.
COLD CASE SEARCHABLE DATABASE.

§ 52-34.10. Cold case searchable database established.

A. The Superintendent of State Police may establish and maintain a cold case searchable electronic database including unsolved homicide, missing person, and unidentified person cases to assist law-enforcement agencies in the development of information leading to the identification and arrest of persons who may have committed the crimes. Such database shall be available to the public through the Department's official website.

B. The searchable database may include interactive elements consisting of (i) the type of case, (ii) the location where the crime was committed, (iii) the investigating law-enforcement agency name, and (iv) the year the crime occurred.
