16104146DBe it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Article 1 of Chapter 11 of Title 18.2 a section numbered 18.2-485.1 as follows:
§ 18.2-485.1. Unfaithful delegates to constitutional convention; penalty.
Any individual representing the Commonwealth at a convention for proposing amendments to the United States Constitution called for by the states pursuant to Article V of the United States Constitution who votes for a proposed amendment that varies from the text of the amendment contained in the application calling for the convention or is outside the scope of such application is guilty of a Class 5 felony.
2. That the provisions of this act may result in a net increase in periods of imprisonment or commitment. Pursuant to § 30-19.1:4, the estimated amount of the necessary appropriation is $0 for periods of imprisonment in state adult correctional facilities and is $0 for periods of commitment to the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice.
