SUMMARY AS PASSED HOUSE:

Practice of veterinary medicine. Provides that, effective July 1, 2018, the exemption from the requirements for licensure for veterinarians employed by the United States or the Commonwealth shall not apply to veterinarians engaged in the practice of veterinary medicine as part of a veterinary medical education program accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association Council on Education and located in the Commonwealth and provides that the Board of Veterinary Medicine shall adopt regulations by July 1, 2018, for the licensure of persons engaged in the practice of veterinary medicine as part of such programs.

SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:

Practice of veterinary medicine. Provides that the exemption from the requirements for licensure for veterinarians employed by the United States or the Commonwealth shall not apply to veterinarians employed by the Commonwealth to teach veterinary medicine in a veterinary medicine program accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association if such veterinarian engages in the practice of veterinary medicine or supervises individuals engaged in the practice of veterinary medicine as part of a veterinary medicine program accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association and located in the Commonwealth.
