2016 SESSION
HB 1027 Special elections; quarterly schedule, exception.
Introduced by: Mark D. Sickles | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Special elections; quarterly schedule; exception. Requires special elections to be held on the Tuesday following the first Monday in February, August, or November, or the first Tuesday in May. The bill exempts from the quarterly schedule those special elections held to fill vacancies in the General Assembly that exist after the date of the November general election but before the second Wednesday in January; such vacancies are permitted to be filled at a special election held on any date, provided the date is a Tuesday and the writ otherwise complies with current law. The bill amends the deadlines for filing declarations and petitions of candidacy to reflect the quarterly schedule for special elections.
