Commending Thomas E. Short.

WHEREAS, Thomas E. Short, a distinguished educator and administrator, earned the Orange County Public Schools Lifetime Contribution Award in 2015; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Short began his career in education as a seventh-grade teacher at the Old Bellview School; after earning a master’s degree from the University of Virginia, he served as an administrator at four schools in Orange County; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Short served as principal of the Locust Grove School for 10 years, then came out of retirement to lead Grymes Memorial School; he served on numerous curricula and instructional committees at the state and local levels; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Short earned numerous other awards and accolades throughout his career, including the Outstanding Teacher of America award and recognition from the Virginia Association of Independent Schools; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Short is an exemplar of the dedication, able leadership, and passion for lifelong learning displayed by educators and school administrators throughout the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Thomas E. Short on receiving the Lifetime Contribution Award from Orange County Public Schools; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Thomas E. Short as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for his commitment to the youth of Orange County.
