16100289DWHEREAS, Edward E. Epperson, a former captain of the Kenbridge Emergency Squad and a longtime member of the Kenbridge Fire Department, died on March 6, 2015; and
WHEREAS, a charter member of the Kenbridge Emergency Squad, Edward Epperson worked to ensure the health and safety of his fellow Kenbridge residents and rose to the rank of captain; and
WHEREAS, Edward Epperson further safeguarded the lives and property of Kenbridge residents as an active member of the Kenbridge Fire Department for 58 years; and
WHEREAS, deeply respected in the field of emergency response, Edward Epperson was a past president of the Southside Virginia Volunteer Firefighters Association and a member of the Board of Governors of the Virginia Association of Volunteer Rescue Squads; and
WHEREAS, Edward Epperson was an exemplar of the dedication, integrity, and work ethic displayed by civil servants throughout the Commonwealth, and he left a legacy of excellence to the Town of Kenbridge; and
WHEREAS, a man who lived his faith through his selfless actions, Edward Epperson enjoyed fellowship and worship as a lifelong member of Kenbridge United Methodist Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher and head usher; and
WHEREAS, Edward Epperson will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife of 55 years, Ann; children, Tammy, Nina, Abby, and Edward, Jr., and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Edward E. Epperson, a distinguished civil servant in Kenbridge; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Edward E. Epperson as an expression of the House of Delegates’ respect for his memory.
