HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 55 Offered January 13, 2016 Prefiled January 11, 2016 Commending Eddie Payne. ---------- Patron-- Webert ----------

WHEREAS, Eddie Payne, the longtime Fire Chief of the Marshall Volunteer Fire Department, who has served and safeguarded the members of the community for nearly 40 years, was named a 2015 Fauquier County Citizen of the Year; and

WHEREAS, the Fauquier County Citizen of the Year award honors individuals who have made exceptional contributions to their fellow Fauquier County residents or the county as a whole; Eddie Payne was nominated by Marshall District Supervisor Peter Schwartz; and

WHEREAS, throughout his career, Eddie Payne has displayed the utmost professionalism and dedication, ably responding to life-and-death situations at unpredictable times in one of Fauquier County’s largest service areas; and

WHEREAS, as fire chief, Eddie Payne has worked to provide his firefighters with cutting-edge training and technology to better serve the community; and

WHEREAS, Eddie Payne and his wife, Brenda, are deeply involved in running monthly fundraising breakfasts to benefit the area’s hardworking firefighters, whose service and sacrifices help ensure the safety of the county’s residents; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Eddie Payne hereby be commended on being named a 2015 Fauquier County Citizen of the Year; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Eddie Payne as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for his contributions to the Fauquier County community.
