HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 25 Commending the Cave Spring High School girls' tennis team.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, January 15, 2016

 

WHEREAS, the Cave Spring High School girls’ tennis team capped off an impressive season by winning the 2015 Virginia High School League Group 3A championship; and

WHEREAS, the talented team from Roanoke County defeated a squad from Western Albemarle High School by a score of 5 - 3 at the state tournament, which was held on June 13, 2015, in Lynchburg; and

WHEREAS, this was the first state tennis title for the Cave Spring High School Knights, yet from the beginning of the season the hardworking girls and their coach, Susan Delp, knew that with discipline and focus the championship was within reach; and

WHEREAS, at the end of singles competition, the score was tied 3 - 3, and it was up to the two doubles teams from Cave Spring High School to keep the dream alive; the Knights’ top doubles players, Reagan Delp and Fallon Delp won their match 6 - 3, 6 - 2; and

WHEREAS, in the next match, doubles teammates Caitlin Carter and Christy Goldsmith held off their opponents to win 6 - 1, 6 - 0; the Cave Spring High School squad was elated with its first state victory; and

WHEREAS, throughout the season, the members of the Cave Spring High School girls’ tennis team were greatly supported by their families, friends, fellow students, coaches, and the entire school community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Cave Spring High School girls’ tennis team hereby be commended for winning the 2015 Virginia High School League Group 3A championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to head coach Susan Delp as an expression of the House of Delegates’ congratulations for the outstanding achievement of the Cave Spring High School girls’ tennis team.
