2016 SESSION
WHEREAS, Robert P. Hunt, a longtime administrator at The College of William & Mary, died on December 4, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Robert Hunt enjoyed a long and fulfilling career with The College of William & Mary, where he earned his master’s degree and a certificate of advanced study; he coached football and basketball and served as the Dean of Admissions from 1961 to 1980; and
WHEREAS, at The College of William & Mary, Robert Hunt served as chair of many committees related to admissions, organized many new programs, counseled students as Associate Director of Career Services from 1980 to 1995, and was an ardent supporter of both academics and athletics; and
WHEREAS, Robert Hunt played a vital and active role in the Kiwanis Club of Williamsburg, serving as a past president, a member of the board of directors of the Kiwanis International Foundation, and a volunteer for almost all committees for the club’s projects; and
WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Club of Williamsburg recognized Robert Hunt’s civic service with the Korczowski-Fuller Award and the Kiwanis International Foundation presented him with the George F. Hixson Fellowship; and
WHEREAS, Robert Hunt aided the Williamsburg community through his service on Williamsburg United Methodist Church’s Official Board and the board of directors of the Wesley Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Robert Hunt was chair of the Williamsburg-James City County School Board and was a member of the Head Start Policy Council; and
WHEREAS, a devoted husband and father, Robert Hunt will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife of 58 years, Sylvia; his children, Roger and Stacy, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Robert P. Hunt, a former administrator of The College of William & Mary and devoted servant to the Williamsburg community; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Robert P. Hunt, as an expression of the House of Delegates’ respect for his memory.
