HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 163 Offered February 23, 2016 Commending the Riverside High School gymnastics team. ---------- Patrons-- Greason and Minchew ----------

WHEREAS, the Riverside High School gymnastics team of Loudoun County won the Virginia High School League Conference 21 West gymnastics championship on February 5, 2016; and

WHEREAS, in the conference championship held at Freedom High School, the Riverside High School Rams earned 141.450 points, besting the second-place Loudoun Valley High School Vikings; and

WHEREAS, the Riverside High School Rams swept the top three positions in the bars and floor routine events and placed highly in the beam and vault events; and

WHEREAS, the Riverside High School Rams also claimed the top three spots in the all-around, with Maddy Howell placing first, Julie Armand second, and Mia Park third; Jayne Murray also placed eighth in the all-around; and

WHEREAS, with the conference victory, the Riverside High School Rams advanced to the regional championship at Park View High School on February 10, 2016; and

WHEREAS, the successful season is a testament to the hard work of each of the student-athletes—Julie Armand, Gabriele Colley, Maddy Howell, Jayne Murray, Mia Park, and Hunter Pla—the leadership of the coaches and staff, and the enthusiastic support of the entire Riverside High School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Riverside High School gymnastics team hereby be commended on winning the Virginia High School League Conference 21 West gymnastics championship in 2016; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Ibsen Nogueira, head coach of the Riverside High School gymnastics team, as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for the team’s achievements and best wishes for the future.
