WHEREAS, Boy Scout Troop 956 of the Boy Scouts of America ably serves and supports the members of the Potomac Falls community; and
WHEREAS, chartered by American Legion Post 150 in Sterling, Boy Scout Troop 956 meets at Galilee United Methodist Church in Potomac Falls; and
WHEREAS, Boy Scout Troop 956 works to honor the Boy Scout oath by building character, fostering good citizenship, and developing the mental, moral, and physical fitness of all members; and
WHEREAS, in addition to learning valuable skills through a full program of outdoor activities, the members of Boy Scout Troop 956 honor the service and sacrifices of the nation’s soldiers through their participation in annual Veterans Day and Memorial Day events; and
WHEREAS, the members of Boy Scout Troop 956 are also committed to the stewardship and preservation of Sterling Park Veterans Memorial in Sterling, cleaning and maintaining the memorial throughout the year; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Boy Scout Troop 956 for providing local youth with opportunities for fun, adventure, leadership, and community service; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Boy Scout Troop 956 as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for the troop’s contributions to the Potomac Falls community.
