HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 405
Commending the Magna Vista High School football team.

WHEREAS, the Magna Vista High School football team claimed the school’s second consecutive state football title by winning the 2015 Virginia High School League Group 3A championship; and

WHEREAS, the Magna Vista High School Warriors from Ridgeway in Henry County defeated a talented squad from Lord Botetourt High School 47 - 21 on December 12, 2015, at Liberty University in Lynchburg; and

WHEREAS, the entire squad from Magna Vista High School was poised and ready for the 2015 championship game; senior tailback Jac Hairston rushed the ball 28 times for 352 yards and two touchdowns, and quarterback Shoalin McGuire ran for one touchdown and completed four touchdown passes; and

WHEREAS, three other members of the Magna Vista High School football team also scored touchdowns; D’Andra Hayden caught two touchdown passes and Tra Redd and Devin Johnston each scored one touchdown; and

WHEREAS, Joe Favero, head coach of the Magna Vista High School football team, attributed the team’s second consecutive state title to many factors, including the hard work of the players and steady improvement throughout the season; and

WHEREAS, the hardworking members of the Magna Vista High School football team were enthusiastically supported by their families, friends, fellow students, faculty and staff, and the entire community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Magna Vista High School football team for winning the 2015 Virginia High School League Group 3A championship, the school’s second consecutive state football championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Joe Favero, head coach of the Magna Vista High School football team, as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations and admiration for the school’s stellar performance and exceptional accomplishments.
