2016 SESSION
WHEREAS, Catherine Reames, a dedicated agricultural educator in Culpeper County who has imparted her passion for learning to countless students, received the 2016 Outstanding Teacher Award from the Virginia Association for Career and Technical Education; and
WHEREAS, the Outstanding Teacher Award is presented by the Virginia Association for Career and Technical Education to honor exceptional technical and career educators at the middle and secondary school levels; and
WHEREAS, Catherine “Katie” Reames earned the Outstanding Teacher Award for her innovative teaching methods, commitment to helping students learn and grow, and work to enhance opportunities for career and technical education in the community; and
WHEREAS, Katie Reames worked as a livestock nutritionist and helped coach 4-H and FFA teams for several years before answering her calling to inspire youth as an educator; she joined Culpeper County Public Schools in 2007 and currently teaches agriculture courses at Eastern View High School; and
WHEREAS, Katie Reames also provides leadership to her peers as a member of the Virginia Association of Agricultural Educators, FFA, and the Virginia Association for Career and Technical Education; and
WHEREAS, as the winner of the Virginia Outstanding Teacher Award, Katie Reames will represent the Commonwealth on the regional awards ballot and may qualify as a finalist for the national Outstanding Teacher Award; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Catherine Reames on receiving the 2016 Outstanding Teacher Award from the Virginia Association for Career and Technical Education; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Catherine Reames as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for her contributions to agricultural education and best wishes for the future.
