HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 10
Commending Midlothian Masonic Lodge No. 211.

WHEREAS, Midlothian Masonic Lodge No. 211 of the Ancient, Free, and Accepted Masons has supported its members in service to the community and strived to make positive contributions to the lives of all Midlothian residents for 150 years; and

WHEREAS, established in 1866, Midlothian Masonic Lodge No. 211 received its charter from the Grand Lodge of Virginia of the Ancient, Free, and Accepted Masons, with A.S. McRae, R. Lindsey Walker, and W.E. Martin as officers; and

WHEREAS, Midlothian Masonic Lodge No. 211 moved to its current location on Westfield Road in 1875; the building has undergone numerous renovations, and a significant addition was completed in 1983 to better serve the growing organization and the community; and

WHEREAS, members of Midlothian Masonic Lodge No. 211 have played an integral role in the history of the community, with numerous brothers working in the area’s coal mines and others acting as respected community leaders; and

WHEREAS, Midlothian Masonic Lodge No. 211 supports two local youth groups and numerous civic organizations by allowing use of the lodge for meetings; the organization provides scholarships and makes contributions to the Masonic Home of Virginia, the Scottish Rite Childhood Language Center, Shriners Hospital, Virginia Blood Services, and other charitable causes; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Midlothian Masonic Lodge No. 211 for its many contributions to the Midlothian community on the occasion of its 150th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Midlothian Masonic Lodge No. 211 as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for the organization’s legacy of service to all residents of Midlothian.
