HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 534
Celebrating the life of William H. Lauer.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, August 17, 2015

 

WHEREAS, William H. Lauer, an admired business leader and selfless servant to the Oakton community, died on May 5, 2015; and

WHEREAS, a lifelong resident of the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, William “Bill” H. Lauer grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland, and graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park; and

WHEREAS, Bill Lauer served his country with the United States Coast Guard during the Vietnam War, then pursued a fulfilling career in business; he founded Tetra Partners and helped shape the future of Northern Virginia by designing several buildings, developments, and master plans; and

WHEREAS, deeply respected by his peers in the industry, Bill Lauer served as president and director of the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association and a charter member of the Board of Directors of the Northern Virginia Transportation Alliance; and

WHEREAS, a tireless advocate for less fortunate members of the community, Bill Lauer worked to enhance the quality of life of his fellow residents as a member and leader of several civic and service organizations; and

WHEREAS, predeceased by his son, Brian, Bill Lauer will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Rosemary; children and stepchildren and their families; and numerous other family members, friends, and colleagues; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of William H. Lauer, a respected businessman and community leader in Oakton; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of William H. Lauer as an expression of the House of Delegates’ respect for his memory.
