Definition of fur-bearing animal. Includes the fisher in the definition of "fur-bearing animals" for the purposes of hunting and trapping provisions of the Code of Virginia. The fisher (Martes pennanti), a small carnivorous mammal native to North America, is a member of the weasel family.
