SUMMARY AS PASSED SENATE:
Department of Health Professions; use of implantable medical devices distributed by physician-owned distributorships. Directs the Department of Health Professions to consider any issues related to the use of implantable medical devices distributed by medical device distributors in which a physician has an ownership interest and to report to the Governor and the General Assembly by November 1, 2014. This bill is identical to HB 1235.
SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Health care provider-owned distributorships. Prohibits physicians and hospitals from using, referring, recommending, ordering, or arranging for the acquisition of certain medical devices in the treatment of patients if the physician or hospital has an ownership interest in the entity that manufactures, distributes, or supplies the medical device.
