SUMMARY AS PASSED HOUSE:
Genetic counseling; licensure. Provides that no person shall practice or hold himself out as practicing genetic counseling without a valid, unrevoked license as a genetic counselor from the Board of Medicine. The bill establishes requirements and a process for licensure as a genetic counselor, sets forth exemptions from the requirements for a license, and establishes the Advisory Board on Genetic Counseling. This bill is identical to SB 330.
SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Genetic counseling; licensure. Establishes a mandatory licensing process for genetic counselors, including educational and training requirements. The bill establishes requirements for license renewal, including continuing education mandates, and creates the Advisory Board on Genetic Counseling to assist the Board of Medicine in regulating the practice of genetic counseling.
