14101002DBe it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Chapter 38 of Title 54.1 a section numbered 54.1-3814 as follows:
§ 54.1-3814. Dispensing of compounded drug products.
A veterinarian may dispense a 72-hour supply of a compounded drug product to his patient provided that (i) the compounded drug product consists only of commercially available drugs approved for veterinary use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, (ii) the compounded drug product is necessary to treat an emergent condition, and (iii) timely access to a compounding pharmacy is not available. A veterinarian shall not seek payment or reimbursement for compounded drug products dispensed in accordance with this section.
