2013 SPECIAL SESSION I
WHEREAS, Jake Thompson Ramey, a junior at Southampton Academy and member of Boy Scout Troop 17, became an Eagle Scout on April 17, 2012; and
WHEREAS, Jake Ramey, the son of Steve and Regina Ramey, participated in the Scouting program for many years; and
WHEREAS, Jake Ramey attended five years of Resident Summer Camp at Bayport Scout Reservation, where he gained many valuable skills; and
WHEREAS, a leader of Boy Scout Troop 17, Jake Ramey served as troop guide, assistant patrol leader, and instructor for the younger Scouts; and
WHEREAS, a dedicated Scout, Jake Ramey camped 55 nights with Boy Scout Troop 17 and logged 74.5 service hours; and
WHEREAS, Jake Ramey earned the World Conservation Award and the Religious Emblem in 2011; and
WHEREAS, for his Eagle Scout project, Jake Ramey installed a flagpole at the Hunterdale Ruritan baseball field at the James L. Camp, Jr. Family YMCA in memory of Boy Scout Troop 17 Eagle Scout Luke Drewry; and
WHEREAS, Jake Ramey raised approximately $700 to complete the project, which took approximately 80 man-hours and created a permanent monument in honor of the former Scout who lost his life in a car accident in 2006; and
WHEREAS, a well-rounded student, Jake Ramey devotes considerable time to his studies and is on the honor roll while also making many contributions as a member of Southampton Academy’s soccer team; and
WHEREAS, Jake Ramey plans to study business administration in college and hopes to pursue a career in business; and
WHEREAS, an outstanding young man, Jake Ramey exemplifies the ideals of the Boy Scouts and has provided valuable community service through his Eagle Scout project; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Jake Thompson Ramey hereby be commended on earning the rank of Eagle Scout; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jake Thompson Ramey as an expression of the House of Delegates’ congratulations and admiration for his achievements and service to the community.
