SUMMARY AS PASSED SENATE:
Criminal Justice Training Academies; sovereign immunity of trainers. Expands the immunity from civil liability that exists for any criminal justice training academy and its directors, officers, and employees to include (i) any trainer at the academy if he has been certified by the Department of Criminal Justice Services and (ii) any person who is a criminal justice training academy approved instructor. This bill is identical to HB 1569.
SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Criminal Justice Training Academies; sovereign immunity of trainers. Expands the immunity from civil liability that exists for any criminal justice training academy and its directors, officers, and employees to include any law-enforcement officer or jail officer who serves as a trainer at the academy if he has been certified as an instructor by the Department of Criminal Justice Services.
