SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 372
Celebrating the life of Carol Lee Fischer Strickler.

WHEREAS, Carol Lee Fischer Strickler, whose selfless devotion to others enhanced the well-being of residents of Page County, the Town of Shenandoah, and the Commonwealth and touched the lives of individuals across the nation, died on April 22, 2012; and

WHEREAS, a graduate and loyal alumna of Shenandoah High School, Carol Lee Strickler taught fifth grade in Michigan before joining Democratic Party efforts on the local, state, and national level; and

WHEREAS, a dedicated and hardworking professional, Carol Lee Strickler served as a valued and respected colleague and made many contributions as a member of the Democratic National Committee and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee; and

WHEREAS, Carol Lee Strickler took great pride in her work on the campaigns of Senator Bob Kerry and presidential candidates Walter Mondale and Al Gore in addition to many other campaigns and initiatives on the local and state level; and

WHEREAS, Carol Lee Strickler returned to her native Page County and, with her characteristic energy and enthusiasm, became involved in local government as a two-term member of the Page County Board of Supervisors, as a member of the Town of Shenandoah Planning Commission, and as a member of the Northern Shenandoah Valley Regional Commission; and

WHEREAS, Carol Lee Strickler also served on the Virginia Association of Counties and the boards of People Incorporated of Virginia and The Citizens Planning Education Association of Virginia, Inc., and was appointed to the Virginia Council on Human Resources and the Virginia Emergency Medical Services Advisory Board; and

WHEREAS, devoted to the well-being of her fellow residents, Carol Lee Strickler also gave of her time and talents to the Eastern Star, Loyal Order of Moose, Ladies Red Hat Club, and local Relay for Life; and

WHEREAS, a compassionate and intelligent leader, Carol Lee Strickler lived her life with a strong commitment to her ideals and faithful service to those around her; and

WHEREAS, Carol Lee Strickler will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her husband, Tom; numerous other family members and friends; and the residents of Page County and the Town of Shenandoah whom she delighted in serving; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of an admired public servant, Carol Lee Fischer Strickler; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Carol Lee Fischer Strickler as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
