13103857DWHEREAS, the Outstanding Virginian celebration annually honors a Virginian who has made an indelible mark on the Commonwealth through his or her leadership and service; and
WHEREAS, since 1984, the Northern Virginia 4-H Educational Center has hosted the Outstanding Virginian celebration, bringing together the Outstanding Virginian and family members, friends, and admirers; and
WHEREAS, circumstances might exist when a venue other than the Northern Virginia 4-H Educational Center would be more appropriate for the Outstanding Virginian celebration; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That House Joint Resolution No. 165 (1984) be amended as follows to allow for a change of venue for the Outstanding Virginian celebration; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a copy of this amended resolution to the Outstanding Virginian Committee and Nora Belle Comer, Executive Director of the Northern Virginia 4-H Educational Center, requesting that they further disseminate copies of this resolution to their respective constituents so that they may be apprised of the sense of the General Assembly of Virginia in this matter.
WHEREAS, tribute should be paid to a fellow Virginian whose leadership and service are an inspiration to all civic-minded citizens; and
WHEREAS, gathering together on an occasion to pay tribute can provide an opportunity conducive to the exchange of ideas leading to the betterment of community and the Commonwealth of Virginia; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring,
That the second Saturday in May is designated “Outstanding Virginian Day,” the
celebration to be held at the Northern Virginia 4-H
Education Center, in Front Royal, Virginia at a location designated by the Outstanding
Virginian Committee.
