12103116DWHEREAS, the House of Delegates agreed to House Joint Resolution No. 5, which established procedures for receiving an address by the Governor of Virginia and scheduling the business of this session of the General Assembly; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Article V, Section 5 of the Constitution of Virginia, it is the duty of the Governor to communicate the condition of the Commonwealth to the General Assembly at every regular session; and
WHEREAS, it has been the practice of Governors to address the General Assembly in the Hall of the House of Delegates; and
WHEREAS, the House of Delegates desires to confirm its invitation to the Governor to present his address in the Hall of the House of Delegates; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates invite His Excellency, the Honorable Robert F. McDonnell, the distinguished Senators of the Senate of Virginia, the President and Clerk of the Senate, and other distinguished persons designated by the Speaker of the House of Delegates to be its guests in the Hall of the House of Delegates for the occasion of the Governor's address on the condition of the Commonwealth, at 7:00 p.m. on January 11, 2012; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That a committee of three members be appointed by the Speaker of the House of Delegates to inform the Governor of the invitation to address the House of Delegates; and, be it
RESOLVED FINALLY, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Clerk of the Senate.
