SUMMARY AS PASSED:
Disposition of driver's licenses upon revocation or suspension. Provides that the court shall not order the physical surrender of a driver's license for any revocation or suspension of a privilege to drive in Virginia of a person who does not have a Virginia driver's license but has a valid driver's license from another jurisdiction.
SUMMARY AS PASSED HOUSE:
Disposition of driver’s licenses upon revocation or suspension. Provides that the court shall not order the surrender of the driver’s license of a person (i) who is not licensed to drive in Virginia but who has a valid driver's license from another jurisdiction and (ii) whose privilege to operate a motor vehicle is suspended or revoked by a court in the Commonwealth.
SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Disposition of driver’s licenses upon revocation or suspension. Provides that the provisions of the Code that require the surrender of a driver’s license to the court when the license is suspended or revoked apply only to driver’s licenses issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia, and that the court shall not order the surrender of the driver’s license of a person (i) who is not licensed to drive in Virginia but who has a valid driver's license from another jurisdiction and (ii) whose privilege to operate a motor vehicle is suspended or revoked by a court in the Commonwealth.
