Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1. The use of natural cut Christmas trees in places of worship.

Notwithstanding any Statewide Fire Prevention Code regulation promulgated pursuant to Chapter 9 (§ 27-94 et seq.) of Title 27 of the Code of Virginia to the contrary, natural cut Christmas trees shall be allowed in the common areas of places of worship that do not have automatic sprinkler systems. Any person managing a place of worship that does not have an automatic sprinkler system shall take all reasonable precautions to avoid fire and explosion while any natural cut Christmas tree is present in such place of worship.
