SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Workforce Development. Increases the membership of the Virginia Workforce Council from 43 to 60 members, to include the chair of each of the 17 local workforce investment boards in the Commonwealth. The Virginia Employment Commission is charged with coordinating statewide workforce development activities. The VEC shall (i) administer all workforce investment programs and funding therefor, (ii) develop processes and procedures to monitor the one-stop centers mandated by the Workforce Investment Act, and (iii) monitor the effectiveness of local workforce investment boards.
