AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE

A BILL to establish uniformity in state travel guidelines.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1. The governing body of every authority, board, bureau, commission, or agency of the Commonwealth that is supported wholly or principally by public funds shall establish policies on travel expenses that are consistent with the policies on travel expenses established by the State Comptroller pursuant to § 2.2-2825. If a particular travel situation is not covered by the policies established pursuant to this act or the amount of expense or reimbursement is greater than 10 percent of what is allowed by such policies, then the traveler must get the approval of the cabinet secretary to which his agency reports as indicated in Chapter 2 (§ 2.2-200 et seq.) of Title 2.2.
