WHEREAS, on September 11, 2001, terrorists launched an inexcusable attack on the United States, causing great destruction and horrible human suffering in New York, Virginia, and Pennsylvania; and

WHEREAS, the attack had a devastating effect in Virginia, home of the Pentagon and of many of the personnel, military and civilian, who served there; and

WHEREAS, among the victims of the Pentagon attack was Lieutenant Colonel Kip Paul Taylor of McLean, a career serviceman assigned to the Army's Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel; and

WHEREAS, during his career in the Army, Lieutenant Colonel Taylor, a native of Michigan, served in Germany, Honduras, and several postings in the United States; and

WHEREAS, Lieutenant Colonel Taylor, who enjoyed running, golf, and basketball, was following his family's trade, as his father was head of the ROTC program at Northern Michigan University and his brother, Dean, was also in the military; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Lieutenant Colonel Kip Paul Taylor, a victim of the September 11 terrorist attacks on the United States; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Lieutenant Colonel Kip Paul Taylor as an expression of the heartfelt condolences of the General Assembly of Virginia.
