Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 15.2-1613.1 as follows:

§ 15.2-1613.1. Processing fee may be imposed on certain individuals.

Any county or city may by ordinance authorize a sheriff to impose a processing fee on any individual admitted to the county or city jail. The fee shall be for reimbursement of reasonable expenses associated with the processing and booking of an arrested individual. Such fee shall not exceed $100 and shall be reimbursed to an individual upon presentation of proof that the charge in question was dismissed.
