WHEREAS, on September 11, 2001, terrorists launched an inexcusable attack on the United States, causing great destruction and horrible human suffering in New York, Virginia, and Pennsylvania; and

WHEREAS, the attack had a devastating effect in Virginia, home of the Pentagon and of many of the personnel, military and civilian, who served there; and

WHEREAS, among the victims of the Pentagon attack was Rosa Maria "Rosemary" Chapa of Springfield, a civilian employee of the Defense Intelligence Agency; and

WHEREAS, while growing up in Texas, Rosemary Chapa pursued her dream of one day working at the Pentagon, a dream that came true due primarily to her hard work and determination; and

WHEREAS, Rosemary Chapa had worked at the Pentagon for more than 10 years and was only a few months away from retirement; and

WHEREAS, devoted to her large family, Rosemary Chapa will be sorely missed by her husband, five children, four siblings, and five grandchildren; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Rosa Maria Chapa, an innocent victim of the September 11 terrorist attacks on the United States; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Rosa Maria Chapa as an expression of the heartfelt condolences of the General Assembly of Virginia.
