Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1. It shall be the policy of the Commonwealth that no state-funded [ institution, ] building, [ park, ] road, bridge or other structure shall be named after a sitting member of the General Assembly.

[ § 2. A state-funded [ institution, ] building, [ park, ] road, bridge or other structure may be named after a member of the General Assembly ten years after the member has left office or upon his death. ]

[ 2. That the provisions of this act shall not apply to any institution, building, park, road or bridge named prior to July 1, 2002, whether or not construction has begun or has been completed. ]
