016128512Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That Chapter 8 of Title 17.1 of the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 17.1-807 as follows:
§ 17.1-807. Modification of sentencing guidelines for methamphetamine.
For any conviction under Article 1 (§ 18.2-247 et seq.) of Chapter 7 of Title 18.2 involving any substance that contains any quantity of methamphetamine, including its salts, isomers, and salts of isomers, the discretionary sentencing guidelines applicable to cocaine shall be used.
2. That the provisions of this act may result in a net increase in periods of imprisonment in state correctional facilities. Pursuant to § 30-19.1:4, the estimated amount of the necessary appropriation is $221,550.
