SUMMARY AS PASSED:

Study; State Corporation Commission. Establishing a joint subcommittee to study the regulatory responsibilities, policies, and activities of the State Corporation Commission. The joint subcommittee shall study the impact of such policies and activities on the lives of the citizens of the Commonwealth.

SUMMARY AS PASSED HOUSE:

Study; State Corporation Commission. Establishing a joint subcommittee to study the regulatory responsibilities, policies, and activities of the State Corporation Commission as they relate to successful economic development in the Commonwealth. The joint subcommittee is also directed to examine (i) the structure, staffing, and budget of the State Corporation Commission to determine whether it is adequate and appropriate for the challenges of the twenty-first century and (ii) the planning currently under way by certain executive branch agencies to maximize the economic development potential associated with the industry restructuring and deregulation. The study is to completed by the 2002 Session.
