Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 17.1-623.1 as follows:

§ 17.1-623.1. Jury costs in civil cases.

Whenever any civil action in which a trial by jury has been demanded and in which judgment is entered, the party against whom the judgment is entered may, in the discretion of the court, be taxed the costs of the jury at the rate specified in § 17.1-618.
